In Loving Memory of Wendy Ann Parker

By Brittany Campbell

Today (3 August 2021) my Grams, Wendy Parker would be celebrating her 87th birthday.

Sadly, Grandma died at Clare Holland House in March 2020, after a two year battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Her physical absence leaving a gaping space in our lives that will never be filled. Immediately after Grandma died the coronavirus and COVID entered our lives, sadly in September 2020 Wendy’s husband and best friend – our treasured Gramps Robin Parker – died also, a broken heart and failing health taking him from us far too soon.

I am launching a tribute page to raise funds for Clare Holland House. In the time since Grandma died at Clare Holland, they have built a new wing with eight additional rooms. To make these rooms attractive and family friendly, with a focus on young patients having respite or end-of-life care, Clare Holland House is inviting donations to assist with special items and touches that make patients and families more comfortable in a time of anxiety and sadness.

COVID meant we could not farewell Grandma when she died, although her and Grandpa’s combined memorial service in October was a fabulous tribute to two people who gave so much to their family and to anyone in need.

If you would like to help Ash, Sienna and me celebrate Grandma’s birthday, please go to the tribute page we have created for the Clare Holland House community fundraiser.
