I am fundraising for the Leukaemia Foundation
On 29 January 2020, my son Reino was diagnosed with A.L.L (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia). It’s a day my wife Rachelle and I will never forget. To say we were completely knocked off our axis is an understatement – our whole world had changed.
A year on, after what has felt like endless treatment cycles, multiple surgeries, too many blood tests to count, transfusions and most of last year living in a different city, Reino has shown so much strength and is cancer-free.
Our little champion just finished his first 3 days at school and is just about to celebrate his 6th birthday. And although we still have another 6 week treatment protocol and then 12 months of maintenance chemo, it feels like there is finally light at the end of the tunnel.
There have been some really scary moments on this journey and one thing is for sure, we couldn’t have made it through without the love and generosity of our family and friends, the amazing health care and support of both the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick and the Canberra Hospital, and knowing that there are causes like the World’s Greatest Shave that are fighting the good fight against blood cancer.
I am also shaving my head at the Canberra Giving Day on 9 March to raise awareness and funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
So please donate if you can!
