About Us
Yeddung Mura is a grass-root community-led organisation that began with the primary focus of supporting detainees released from jail. Yeddung Mura's vision is to provide a community-based leadership role in reducing recidivism, empowering the community to build upon the foundation of community leadership as identified in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Whole of Government agreement.
The objectives of this program are to:
- Provide strength-based supported culturally sensitive services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander detainees released from AMC and other Justice clients.
- Provide a holistic approach to an individual's needs through a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual model: employment, education, family relationships, interpersonal relationships, self-concept, drugs and alcohol use, and leisure time.
- Develop within the participant an ability to achieve independence, empowerment, respect and inclusion in a healthy environment.
- Increase social participant by increasing employment opportunities.
- Reduce the risk of recidivism through meaningful integration in the community
How your donation will help
We want to raise funds to implement more programs that assist our local aboriginal community and improve the current programs by employing more caseworkers. We also provide much-needed vouchers to participants in our programs which help with either food or petrol vouchers depending on what the participants may need help with that week.
Our Clients receive therapeutic based case management, which assesses them transitioning into the local community. We want to raise enough funds to provide more volunteers to assist with current programs.
A big thank you to our Supporters
