About Us
Our vision is to partner with Government, Business and the local Community to build and administer a purpose built respite care facility in Queanbeyan which will be called Yvonne Cuschieri House, the founder of Respite Care for QBN and who passed away in June 2021.
The facility will support carers and provide short-term professional residential care for people aged 18 to 59 years suffering from a terminal or chronic illness.
Currently these people go into nursing homes and aged care facilities for respite care, a completely wrong environment.
How your donation will help
All money's raised through the Canberra Day Appeal will go towards the associated running costs of Yvonne Cuschieri House. Based on budget advice we will have a shortfall of around $500,000 in funding to run Yvonne Cuschieri House in the first year of operation.
Preliminary site work has commenced, with full construction to get underway by March 2024 with an expected opening of Yvonne Cuschieri House in early 2025.
