About Us
Radio 1RPH is a community radio broadcaster servicing Canberra and the surrounding region, operating as a radio reading service for people with a print disability.
What will you hear when you tune in to Radio 1RPH? Our friendly volunteers bring you:
- live readings of daily newspapers
- articles from magazines and other special-interest sources
- book readings twice daily
- interviews
- community notices and coverage of local events
Radio 1RPH has been on the air since 1981 and broadcasts 24/7/365 to Canberra on 1125AM and DAB+, Wagga Wagga on 89.5FM and Junee on 99.5FM, as well as via our website at radio1rph.org.au and the Community Radio Plus app.
In 2023, and in addition to its core in-studio reading programming, Radio 1RPH will be increasing involvement in the community, covering events and insight into community organisations in the area and the services they provide.
This is part of our ongoing aim to increase our engagement with individuals and organisations alike and foster a continuous and communicative relationship with the community, to help strengthen Canberra as an accessible city.
How your donation will help
Help us stay on air - with your support Radio 1RPH will update critical areas of our broadcast infrastructure so that we can keep pace with a changing media landscape and continue to provide valuable information services to listeners who have a print disability. With funds raised, we will upgrade programme automation software and ageing computer equipment to enable us to stay on-air 24 hours a day.
As traditional print media sources go online, we are also seeking funds to subscribe to digital publications to ensure we bring listeners the latest and best sources of information.
A big thank you to our Supporters
