About Us
Heart Support Australia (HSA) is the peak national body supporting Australians affected by heart disease through peer support. We are a national consumer organisation providing support, encouragement, and education to heart disease patients and their families. Established in 1989, HSA’s mission is to facilitate the transition from hospital to home and provide ongoing support for heart disease patients in Australia, particularly in regional areas including the ACT region. Our goal is to stop cardiac events and improve the lives of those living with heart disease in Australia.
How your donation will help
Your donation to our Canberra Giving Day Appeal will help Heart Support Australia continue to provide support and make a heartfelt difference for cardiac patients and their families living with heart disease in Canberra and the ACT region. Our Canberra Peer Support Group has helped many heart patients achieve improved physical and psychosocial health outcomes for over thirty years, whilst also supporting families and carers. Our group provides a safe space to receive education, discuss concerns, and increase social connectedness leading to improved physical and psychosocial health. Group activities include educational sessions with guest speakers, social activities and in the future, a volunteer cardiac patient visitation program with the local hospitals.
Your generosity will help us to continue to reach those impacted by heart disease and provide them with the support and information they need to improve their quality of life.
