About Us
Doris Women’s Refuge will use all raised funds to directly support women and children escaping domestic and family violence, providing the assistance they need to rebuild their lives and recover from experiences of trauma.
Each family has varying needs depending on their individual circumstances. Financial assistance is frequently used to cover the costs of the items that women and children require but cannot afford, which include but are not limited to food, clothing, shoes, school supplies, transport, medical appointments, driving lessons, children’s activities and care, and access to internet.
Our most recent focus is a safe house that enables us to provide direct practical support and accommodation for migrant and refugee women and children leaving violence, with very little or no income. This provides these women and children with an opportunity to be safely housed and supported, reducing the many barriers they face to receive the assistance they need. The options for these women are extremely limited, due to their low or no income and lack of eligibility to services.
We also utilise financial assistance to purchase basic household items for families to set up a new stable home after leaving our refuge, and to purchase items for children, including toys.
A big thank you to our Supporters
