About Us
Canberra Blind Society provides information, services and assistance to people who are blind or have a vision impairment in Canberra and the local region. We offer support and information for families, carers, community groups and businesses interested in learning more about people who are blind or have low vision.
For more than 65 years we have provided a safe and welcoming environment through programs, community engagement and social events. We encourage our members and community to work together to assist in building independence for individuals and families that live with a wide range of vision impairments.
We are a not-for-profit charity and public benevolent institution that relies on the invaluable support of our community to operate our programs and support our clients. Donations go a long way to help us maintain diverse and engaging programs and events for people we support.
How your donation will help
Canberra Blind Society hosts peer support groups, social outings and more to empower our clients with a vision impairment to get out and about and increase their confidence.
We are aiming to raise $10,000 in order to be able to host a weekly accessible fitness program with a certified exercise physiologist, increasing the health and mobility of our clients. Having increased fitness will help in many ways such as increased confidence, injury prevention and improved mobility.
With these funds we can employee a certified exercise physiologist to create accessible and inclusive programs for our clients to do in a safe and supportive environment.
