ADACAS has been supporting people with disability, mental ill-health, older people and carers in the Canberra community for over 30 years to ensure their voice is heard and their human rights are upheld.  The staff at ADACAS are professional advocates. This means they can help people to understand and navigate systems like the NDIS, My Aged Care, Disability Royal Commission and Redress Scheme.  They can also support people who need greater assistance in regard to public housing, mental health units, child protection, elder abuse and concerns around services they are receiving at home or in a residential aged care facility – these are an example of some of the types of issues that we can help with.

Our approach to advocacy is to walk behind or beside our clients to ensure their voice is being heard and when asked we can speak on their behalf.  Our service is free, confidential and independent. 

How your donation will help

The demand for advocacy support has never been higher and the need never greater.  Our service is free and confidential. ADACAS would like to be able increase our workforce to meet the demand of people with disability, mental-ill health and carers who require advocacy and we would also like to have a greater capacity to address the systemic issues that so many of our clients face.  This is the first time we have looked to the Canberra community for support and thank you in advance for considering us as your charity of choice.
