About Us
The St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn is a member based lay Catholic organisation that has been assisting people experiencing poverty and disadvantage for over 135 years.
Vinnies has provided essential services every day in a range of programs to those in need for decades in Canberra and the surrounding regions.
Through the work of our members, volunteers, and staff, we aim to bring lasting positive change to the lives of people in need. Our assistance is only possible by the generosity and compassion of our supporters.
How your donation will help
Funds raised through this appeal will help us continue supporting our Night Patrol Program. This program provides support and contact for those doing it tough on the streets for 21 years, it is one of our most recognised services and visits the streets of Canberra and surrounds 364 nights of the year, providing engagement, material aid and light refreshments to people in need.
The vans operate seven nights a week and visit locations across Canberra and Queanbeyan, handing out drinks, sandwiches, fruit, clothing items, sleeping bags, blankets, and hygiene packs.
Night Patrol volunteers engage with people by offering friendship, support, and compassion. They often act as a connection point for people in need, offering information and referrals based on individual needs.
Your donation will ensure the vans continue their good work for some of the most vulnerable in the community.
- $25 – will supply food and essential items to 3 people in need.
- $50 – will supply food and essential items to 6 people in need.
- $100 – will supply food and essential items to 12 people in need.
- $500 – will supply food and essential items to 60 people in need.

After seeing the work of night patrol first hand, I have realised how incredibly important this program is. On one evening a few years ago, my friends and I volunteered with the night patrol and it was amazing. The joy on the volunteers faces is unexplainable when they meet a new beautiful soul who just wants to be loved and needs a hand up to help them get back on their feet. Night patrol is my favourite cause to donate to because every time I do, I remember the smiles on their faces.
