About Us
St John’s Care aims to bridge the gap and break the cycle of disadvantage, isolation, and economic hardship with compassion, advocacy, respect, and encouragement through the provision of emergency relief and other programs.
St John’s Care is:
- A parish-based Anglican organisation working in partnership with Anglicare
- A recognised emergency relief provider in the ACT region
- Funded primarily through donations from community and church groups, businesses, and individuals
- Proudly staffed by both volunteers and professionals
- Committed to the flexibility required to meet the individual needs of clients
How your donation will help
By donating to us you will be providing emergency asistance to Canberrans in need in the form of food, fresh fruit and vegetables. We also provide some clothing and bedding, prescription filling, bus fares and a limited amount of financial help to meet the basic requirements of people in need. Nearly all of our clients cannot afford to put food on the table on a regular basis.
Information and referral to a variety of services are also provided, including help to find the right agency or department to deal with a problem. All people are treated in a non-judgmental manner with dignity and respect.
Funds will also be used for our free lunch held on the first Friday of the month. Besides being served a nutritious, home-cooked, two or three-course meal, it is an opportunity to strengthen a sense of connectedness and community among the people who attend.
We serve around 75 to 100 meals per month.

It's wonderful to see people being able to come to St John's and receive support with food, clothing and vouchers. I hope this will help you purchase what you need for those in need.
