About Us
We are raising funds for Rotary District 9705’s Vulnerable Youth Project (Canberra home).
Rotary is an international service organisation. Rotary District 9705 incorporates Rotary Clubs in the ACT and a large proportion of regional NSW. Initiated by the Rotary Club of Canberra and in association with the ACT Youth Coalition and the ACT Government, Rotary is assisting to support the opening of a home in Waramanga to house 12 to 17 year olds who are currently living in a challenging family environment. The home will provide a safe haven for these at-risk youth to spend a few nights each week supported by allied health professionals. They then return home again with this cycle being repeated weekly for up to six months.
The concept is based on Ruby’s which has been operating in Adelaide with three homes for 28 years and over 75% of young people return to live full time with their families. This project is one of immense value to the vulnerable teenagers of Canberra to reduce the growing problem of youth homelessness in the ACT.
Local ACT Rotary clubs are supporting this initiative, so
