PhotoAccess is a non-profit organisation based at the Manuka Arts Centre and is the go-to place for contemporary photography, film, video, and media arts in Canberra and its surrounding regions. Our mission is to foster cultural participation, artistic expression, and positive social change, offering a creative and welcoming community for individuals to explore photographic culture. Our facilities include the only publicly accessible darkroom in the ACT, a digital imaging suite, and making spaces for artists to create new work in film, video, and digital multimedia. We feature exhibitions by emerging and established photo-artists in our gallery, as well as public talks, events, performances, and artist residencies that inspire critical debate and engagement with photographic practice. In addition, we are dedicated to extending community access to photographic arts, offering creative workshops for adults and children, and award-winning outreach programs that enable those with limited opportunities to explore the visual arts. Whether you're an established photo-media artist, an aspiring documentary photographer, or simply someone exploring photography with a new DSLR, we welcome new members to join our creative community.

For more than three decades, PhotoAccess has been promoting contemporary photography in Canberra with a belief that art has the power to inspire and engage communities. As we step into 2023, we are eager to take our evolution to the next level and become an eco-conscious organization. We are committed to implementing sustainable practices across our organization, including our creative workshops, member facilities, and professional services. This year, we are proud to partner with Ginninderra Falls, a breathtaking local site, to create a project aimed at promoting conversations about land use and conservation. Our goal is to raise awareness of the significance of protecting the natural beauty of the land we occupy and inspire positive change through art. However, we cannot accomplish this alone. Our aim is to raise $10,000 to help us source sustainable materials, upgrade our facilities to reduce waste, and provide awareness training for our staff. By doing so, we hope to set a positive example in the art community and make a significant impact on the planet.
