Music for Canberra (MfC) encompasses many of Canberra’s long-standing youth music programs, including the Canberra Youth Orchestra (CYO), the James McCusker Orchestra (JMO), and the Canberra Childrens’ Choir, all with rich histories dating back to the 1960s. We also provide music programs for pre-school children, people living with a disability and a variety of music group classes for children and adults.

How your donation will help

This year we are focusing on our music programs for people living with disability and our childrens choirs. Our Mixed Abilities Program is designed for people living with disability, using the powerful (and fun!) medium of music to encourage participants to develop skills in coordination, concentration, social interaction and gain self-confidence.

Our childrens choirs provide the opportunity for personal and group vocal development, including singing, score reading, blend and balance, rhythmic accuracy and vocal technique, while encouraging a life-long love of music.
