About Us

Lions Youth Haven is located on a 200 hectare farm property, and provides a place where disengaged and at-risk youth, and young people in situations of crisis, can find a refuge and support.

Lions Youth Haven provides the young people referred to our programs with training in basic skills which will equip them to fill their places in society as self-sufficient and productive individuals, both in an economic sense and in a personal sense.

Some of the skills taught in our Farm skills program include nutrition and cooking, animal care, plant propagation, growing vegetables, construction and maintenance skills, use of basic tools, gardening, horticulture and nature-based crafts such as whittling, woodwork and weaving.

As well as learning hands on skills the program allows the students to experience a different kind of learning environment, outside of a classroom. It requires that they work as a team, take responsibility for rostered tasks, and learn social skills as they work together with the other students and Lions Youth Haven staff, giving them the confidence to relate positively to other members of the society in which they live.

Lions’ Youth Haven partners with various community organisations including the Galilee School and the Disability Trust, to allow us to further support at risk youth in our community.

How your donation will help

The funds raised through this appeal will be used to purchase a new bus to transport the students participating in the Lions Youth Haven Farm Skills program from their school to our property and back.

Our current bus is over 12 years old and in need of an upgrade. Without a bus service many of the students referred to the program would be unable to participate, making the provision of reliable transport vital to ensuring the inclusiveness of our program.
