· reduced rates of clinical admission or hospitalisation for members.
Our Program
Our Program teaches our dogs to become emotionally tuned to their Veteran or First Responder and their unique triggers. Our dogs ground their handler from a hyper-aroused state and provide unconditional support through the trauma and stresses of everyday life.

How your donation will help
Canberra Day Appeal
This year Integra is raising funds to source and provide a highly trained Assistance Dog for a local First Responder suffering from PTSD.
$35,000 will allow Integra to provide a Labrador Assistance Dog. This Integra Assistance Dog will enrich the First Responder and their families lives.
Integra Assistance Dogs provide proven, practical, economic, non-medical intervention for Veterans and First Responders suffering from post-traumatic stress.
Anecdotally, Integra has not only witnessed improvement in quality of life, mental health, and wellbeing in First Responders we have also witnessed the following benefits:
· successful graduated return to work arrangements (where members were previously on long-term miscellaneous or sick leave away from the workplace),
· gains in productivity and performance from members who are on reduced hours of work,
· reduced rates of clinical admission or hospitalisation for members,
· reduced medication and clinical support costs for members with mental injury and return to work initiatives,
· improved morale and productivity in the workplace with members seeing the direct benefit, and
· re-engagement of members with families, colleagues, and the broader community.
What our handlers (Veterans and First Responders) say:
“This is a way, I can help to pay it forward. And if I can show other veterans or first responders how Betty has affected my life and improved it … they may then put their hand up and say well … this program could help me as well.” Handler 1
” To say to people, look this is something that may help you. We're not saying it's gonna help everyone, but it's a program that that could very well stop someone, like mates of mine, killing themselves. … What price do we put on life? “ Handler 2
“I've always believed … in assistance animals. I just think they're invaluable. And one thing that's always brought up … is that people with PTSD lose connection with people and they just lose the ability to be able to do it. So they are very, very important in that respect.” Handler 3
