Havelock Housing has been providing homes to vulnerable people since 1983 and in1987 was the first community housing organisation to be registered in in the ACT. It is now one of the largest community housing providers in Canberra, providing safe and secure homes for nearly 400 people in Canberra in 180 properties across the region. Our residents include some of the most vulnerable Canberrans, including people on very low incomes and those with high and complex service needs, including disability.  Havelock Housing has established itself as a leader around community housing for those with disability.
We believe the foundation for building a rich, fulfilled, and connected life is a stable home. People who have experienced disadvantage are searching for ways to rebuild their lives and futures. Havelock gives them the opportunity to achieve this by providing a home, introductions to services, and guidance on the next steps to a healthy and fulfilled life. The key to developing a successful future is a vibrant and connected community and towards this end Havelock Housing now has in place a comprehensive community development program that includes a counsellor, social inclusion and sporting programs with the aim of enhancing connection between residents, as well as the wider community. 

How your donation will help

Havelock Housing is always looking to improve the lives of its residents through garnering support for various initiatives. We are very keen to raise much needed funds to continue our in-house counselling services, which are so important for our vulnerable residents at Havelock House. We currently offer these services two half-days and week and over 50% of Havelock residents use these services. We also need more support to help us improve access to facilities for residents, such as providing outdoor seating and shaded areas, funding for our community focused activities and programs, and support for bringing in more wrap around services to those with high and complex needs. Funds that come to Havelock will always have an outcome to improve the mental health and well-being of those we serve, and to improve their social inclusion and connectedness to each other and to the whole community.
