About Us
Galilee School is a registered, independent secondary school, designed specifically for disengaged and vulnerable young people in Years 7-12 in the ACT and the surrounding areas for whom the mainstream schooling environment has struggled to deliver positive outcomes.
As the only Special Assistance School in the Canberra region, we provide training, skill development and job-ready support for students transitioning to the workforce or to further educational opportunities. Our philosophy is learner-centred, strengths-based, relationship-driven, and restorative.
How your donation will help
Galilee School supplies everything that a young person requires to find success at school: food, IT equipment, transport to and from school, social and emotional support, writing materials - everything. At the same time, we seek to maintain a quality learning environment and give our young people access to the best learning opportunities and environments that we can.
This year we aim to refurbish Bosco's Barn on our Kambah Campus into an 'al fresco' dining, entertainment and learning space. Bosco's, a beautiful stone building built with the assistance of former students and staff in the early 2000s, was one of the few buildings on site that survived the 2003 Canberra bushfires. As such, it holds a very special place in the school's history. We want to bring Bosco's Barn back to life and immerse the students in its culture and history.
This project is a wonderful opportunity to partner together to deliver great learning opportunities for our young people as the refurbished building will complement the new food studies and hospitality building soon to be built across the lawn from Bosco's Barn.
Feel free to contact the school on 6293 6314 and chat to Tim McNevin, school principal, about how you can get involved.
